Research together with care

Community Guidelines

A family archive is strongest when memories are welcomed, evidence is named, and people are treated with dignity.

Be helpful and specific

Share names, dates, places, memories, sources, and the reasoning behind a correction. Say when something is a family story rather than a documented fact.

Respect people and branches

Disagreement about evidence is welcome; personal attacks, harassment, ridicule, discrimination, and knowingly false claims are not.

Protect living people

Do not post private contact information, street addresses, government identifiers, financial or medical information, or allegations about living people. Use the private contact form when a sensitive issue needs review.

Credit the source

Identify where a record, photograph, quotation, or family story came from whenever possible. Do not present someone else’s research or copyrighted material as your own.

Moderation

Every new comment is reviewed. Approved comments may still be hidden or removed if new privacy, safety, legal, or accuracy concerns arise. Reporting a comment sends it back for review; it does not automatically remove it.
